Feng Shui Your Desk | How it Works

Here’s a simple breakdown:

Step 1: calculate your Ming Gua Number

1. For Men (born before 2000):
   Subtract the last two digits of your birth year from 10. If the result is double digits, add them until you get a single digit.
   Example: 1985 → 10 — (8+5) = 3 (Ming Gua = 3)
2. For Women (born before 2000):
   Add the last two digits of your birth year to 5. If the result is double digits, add them until you get a single digit.
   Example: 1985 → 5 + (8+5) = 18 → 1+8 = 9 (Ming Gua = 9)
3. Post-2000 Adjustments: Replace 10 with 9 for men and 5 with 6 for women.

Step 2: Align desk setup

Each Ming Gua number corresponds to favorable and unfavorable directions. Starting from the whole floor layout and move to the room, and your space.

Favorable Directions (优方)

1. Sheng Qi (生气): Energy for wealth, growth, and opportunities. Good for activating promtions with hardwork.
2. Tian Yi (天医): Energy for health and well-being. Good for work life balance.
3. Yan Nian (延年): Energy for relationships and networking. Good for team building and HR.
4. Fu Wei (伏位): Energy for stability and focus. Good for maintaining the current. Yield good results.

Unfavorable Directions (凶方)

• Avoid facing Jue Ming (绝命) or Liu Sha (六煞) directions, as these bring challenges.
• Minimize use of Huo Hai (祸害) and Wu Gui (五鬼) directions, which can cause conflicts but sometimes for people with real Feng Shui knowledge this can be a good direction if circumstances allow it like activate in opening a bidding war for a government project.

• Commanding Position: Place your desk so you have a clear view of the door but are not directly in line with it. It represent one’s control.
