Picking a Social Media as a small business owner | I have a prediction for you.

Social media is complicated.

Its a lot of work to do it consistently on top of our daily activities.

As a small business owner myself I find that it is best to focus on one platform.

Not only will this allow you to optimize your efforts, but it will also enable you to connect with your target audience in a more meaningful way.

My top pick is Youtube.

The reason is its Feng Shui, the logo is very auspicious and in harmony with the business. It is clear indicator for a business that will continue to thrive and succeed in the digital age.

So the question I get is what type of logo attracts good fortune?

The checklist is,

  1. Find the location of the Taiji (太極) and fine how the Chi moves. We like inwards for startups and outwards or forward for public companies.

2. A line the colors, symbols and combination to the five elements and Yijing. The more direct and focus usually gives better results. Most commonly seen reference I use is the Korean Flag.

3. This is the most important part in all Feng Shui that is the art of creating harmony and change.

So what do I think about the other Social Media,

The Facebook logo from August 23, 2005, to July 1, 2015

The current powerhouse and most popular social media is facebook. The facebook logo is a standard box logo in blue. It’s a color that represent wealth and trust. One interesting fact about the logo is facebook is spell in small letters. This represent lack of strong leadership in all levels, meaning that many internal problems will continue and get worst.

At some point even with it’s billion user, less people will actively use the platform daily and it be just another social platform.

The Twitter logo from September 14, 2010, to June 5, 2012

The interesting social media position belongs to Twitter especially after Elon Musk acquisition. The Twitter logo in my professional opinion is one of the coolest logo. The bird is a old school symbol bring never ending opportunities. I dare say that as long as this logo remains a bird it will still be around.

The Instagram logo from 2016 to 2022

The most controversial social media Instagram. In the past twelves years since the company has been up and running, it has totally change the landscape for fashion brands and eCommerce.

There was some issue with this company logo redesign in 2016. My list of negatives with this new logo are;

  1. The gradient effect on the logo reflects it’s ever changing components that is trying to regain it’s glories past. The move from yellow to purple and blue. (Clash +Control = Disharmony )
  2. The replacement of the Wealth Activation Symbol that is use to create great opportunity and luck.
  3. The harmony is a big problem that can only be created anew. They need to find the right balance to attract daily users and small business.

Still, there is value to be had. Much like how a auspicious period 7 house can transaction to period 9 with minor renovation work and unlock great auspicious potential for the homeowners. Instagram has a strong affiliation to Yin Fire. For the beauty and fashion community this is the place you’ll want to be.

The addictive social media Tiktok. This is a company that was not invented in the west but the east, there is sign of this in the color selection “Black”. It is the color of trade and doing business. You can also see the logo mark represent fast action with the simple eight note symbol. This is a place if you want fast results and want an open online shop.

The YouYube logo from 2017 to current

The pick for social media that I recommend. It’s red with a play button symbol moving forward. This is one of the best logo for online business and media brand I’ve seen. The forward symbol represents going a head. Red is the element representing electronic, visual and media.

The conclusion for social media is that the plateform choice depends on your business needs.

IF you want fast results go for Tiktok.

IF you want woman young and old go to instagram.

IF you want longavity of content then go for youtube.

To conclude the list of social media I have invest my own time and resources are youtube, facebook page, facebook blog and facebook group.

My reason is by building trust and explain my service and can create a long relationship with my clients. I am not looking to make a fast buck.

However for most of my clients small to middle size business I will suggest they do a combination of tiktok and youtube together as it is a lethal combination especially if you get a savvy teen part-timer to help make the content. This gives you fast results and brand recognition in the longer term.
